The West Side Theatre Foundation is calling on community members to join its “Shine Crew,” a volunteer team dedicated to keeping the historic West Side Theatre in top condition. Volunteers are asked to donate just one hour of their time one to two Thursdays per month to help maintain the venue’s welcoming atmosphere.

County Clerk to host ‘Marriage at the Mansion’ on Valentine’s Day

The Stanislaus County Clerk-Recorder’s Office will host its annual “Marriage at the Mansion” event on Valentine’s Day, offering individualized civil ceremonies inside the historic McHenry Mansion. Weddings will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, with ceremonies available in English or Spanish and guest attendance limited to 15.

Couples must purchase a marriage license and make an appointment in advance at the Clerk-Recorder’s Office at 1021 I St. in Modesto. The cost is $121, or $126 for a confidential license. Officials encourage early reservations, noting Valentine’s Day fills quickly. The mansion’s gift shop will be open with themed items, and flash photography is not permitted. Delta Waterfowl Grasslands chapter to host annual banquet in Gustine

The Grasslands Chapter of Delta Waterfowl will hold its annual fundraising banquet on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Gustine Pentecost Society Portuguese Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. for an evening featuring a prime rib dinner, raffle, silent auction and live auction. Tickets range from $50 for youth to sponsor tables priced from $1,000 to $5,000, with higher tiers offering perks such as openbar wristbands, tumblers, raffle packages and premium items.

Delta Waterfowl — known as The Duck Hunters Organization — supports duck production, wetland conservation and huntingheritage programs across North America. The Grasslands Chapter banquet is one of the region’s largest waterfowl gatherings, drawing hunters who frequent the nearby Grasslands Ecological Area, the largest freshwater wetlands complex west of the Mississippi.
