NEWMAN — A Patterson woman was arrested in connection with the theft of an electric bicycle outside a local grocery store, according to the Newman Police Department.

On Oct. 4, Officer Gil responded to a report of grand theft at Nob Hill Foods in the 1900 block of N Street. The victim told police their electric bicycle had been stolen while they were shopping inside the store.

Surveillance footage from the business showed a female suspect leaving the scene on the stolen bicycle. She was later identified as Sarah Schaa, 28, of Patterson.

On Oct. 14, Newman officers located Schaa in Patterson, where she reportedly admitted to the theft. She was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of grand theft, theft with prior convictions, and violation of probation.
