The Newman Fire Station responded to 26 calls for service from Sept. 24 to Oct. 2. The calls included 16 for Emergency Medical Services. One mutual aid call, three public assists, two unknown fire calls, two vegetation fires and two false alarms.
On October 1, at 10:21 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vegetation fire in the area of River Road and Azevedo Road. Upon arrival, the fire crews found a river bottom fire. The fire was in accessible at night for the crews to extinguish. Fire crews monitored the small fire until it was extinguished. No damages or injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
The Gustine Fire Department did not report any calls.
