The Newman Fire Department responded to 22 calls for service for the week of Jan. 12 to Jan. 18. The calls included 13 for Emergency Medical Services, one illegal burn call, two alarm calls, one public assistance call, one vegetation fire, one unknown fire call, one mutual aid call and two vehicle collisions.

At 6:24 p.m. On Jan. 13, the Newman Station was dispatched for an unknown fire in the area of River Road and Crows Landing Road. On arrival, the firefighters found a dumpster trash fire. The firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the cause was undetermined. There are no damages or injuries to report. 

At 3:43 p.m. on Jan. 14, the Newman Station was dispatched to a vehicle collision in the area of the 1900 block of N street. On arrival, the fire crews found a motorcyclist down on the side of the road. The fire crews quickly assessed the occupant. The occupant had minor injuries and damages are unknown.
