Newman Fire Department

The Newman Fire Station responded to 29 calls for service from November 26 to December 4. The calls included 19 for Emergency Medical Services, one working structure fire, four fire alarms, one fire assist to another agency, one public assist, two vehicle collisions and one vehicle fire.

On November 26, at 2:34 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a working structure fire near the 600 block of Orestimba Peak Drive. On arrival, the fire crews found a single-story residence with smoke and flames coming from the garage. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and secured the property. The cause of the fire was undetermined. There were no injuries, and the damages were estimated at $105,000.

On November 30, at 12:33 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle versus a person near Inyo Avenue and N Street. On arrival, the fire crews found a car with multiple occupants and an injured person next to the vehicle. One of the vehicles involved reportedly left the scene. The Newman Police Department was requested to assist due to reported injuries; no damage was noted.

On December 1, at 8:11 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle fire near Inyo Avenue and Hoyer Road. On arrival, the fire crew found a vehicle fully involved with flames and smoke showing. The fire crew diligently worked to extinguish the fire. A mechanical failure caused the fire. There were no injuries, and the damage was estimated at $4,266.

 

Gustine Fire Department

The Gustine Fire Department responded to 11 calls for service from Nov. 24 to Dec. 1. The calls included seven for Emergency Medical Services, one vehicle collision, one public assist, one residential structure fire, and one fire other assist.

On Wednesday, November 26, Engine 74 responded to assist the City of Newman with a residential structure fire. Crews from Newman Fire Department, West Stanislaus Fire Protection District, and Merced County Fire worked together to contain the fire to the garage. No injuries were reported on the incident.
