Newman Fire Department

The Newman Fire Station responded to 31 calls for service from Sept. 12 to 18. The calls included 22 for Emergency Medical Services, two vehicle collisions, two potential structure fire calls, two public assists, two vegetation fires and one carbon monoxide alarm call.

On September 16, at 7:25 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle collision in the area of Fresno Street and Silva Avenue. On arrival, the fire crews found two vehicles involved. The occupants were assessed for injuries, and none were found. The damages were estimated at $6,000.

On September 17, at 4 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of Stuhr Road and Bell Road. On arrival, the fire crews found one vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway. The occupant was out of the vehicle with no injuries to report. The vehicle was fully involved, and fire had spread to nearby vegetation. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and secured the scene. The damage is unknown.
