STEVINSON — A Newman man was arrested Sept. 10 after authorities located an illegal vessel on the Merced River near Hagaman Park, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

Cesar Moran, 36, was found aboard the vessel by the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team and the Dive Rescue and Recovery Team following multiple reports over recent weeks. Moran, who is currently on probation for gun-related offenses, was searched along with the vessel. Deputies recovered a .357 Magnum revolver during the search.

Moran was arrested on gun-related charges and booked into the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Jail. The vessel was removed from the river.
