NEWMAN — Newman police seized a vehicle after officers said it was used to perform dangerous driving maneuvers in two city intersections late last month.

On Nov. 29, Officer Kennedy was on patrol when he noticed fresh tire friction marks in a circular pattern at the intersection of T Street and Yolo Street, police said. Surveillance footage later showed a silver Honda Civic spinning several “donuts” before heading southbound on T Street.

Investigators determined the same vehicle had also been involved in similar activity at the intersection of T Street and Merced Street. Officers obtained the car’s license plate number, and a 30-day vehicle seizure warrant was approved.

The following day, Nov. 30, Newman police located the Honda Civic and towed it pursuant to the warrant.

Authorities said the seizure was part of ongoing efforts to curb reckless driving and maintain public safety in city neighborhoods.
