NEWMAN — A countywide traffic enforcement effort in Newman on March 4 resulted in 33 citations, four vehicle tows and four arrests, according to the Newman Police Department.
The department hosted the County Integrated Traffic Enforcement (CITE) Team in response to ongoing complaints about speeding, stop‑sign violations and unsafe driving in school zones. The CITE Team is made up of officers from agencies throughout Stanislaus County and conducts similar operations in other communities throughout the year with a focus on roadway safety and public education.
The operation ran from 7 a.m. to noon and involved numerous officers from participating agencies. In addition to the 33 citations issued, officers towed four vehicles. Four people were booked on outstanding warrants, and two of them also faced new charges, including forgery, misappropriation of lost property and drug possession.
Newman police thanked the participating agencies for their assistance, saying the coordinated effort helps improve safety on local roadways.
