The Newman Police Department received 71 calls for service and reported 69 officer initiated calls for a total of 140 incidents from July 18 to July 24.
There were 18 cases opened and seven arrests. The department issued seven traffic citations, one criminal citation and five parking citations. Three vehicles were towed.
Woman arrested for destroying clothing in domestic dispute
NEWMAN — Guillermina Andrade, 43, of Newman was arrested on July 24 after allegedly destroying approximately 67 articles of clothing at a residence on the 1300 block of Red Teal Drive. According to police, Andrade used a fork and a metal hanger to damage the items, causing an estimated $1,290 in losses. She reportedly told officers she was angry at the time of the incident. Andrade was booked without incident for felony vandalism.
Juvenile arrested in assault that left victim injured
NEWMAN — A 12-year-old juvenile female of Newman was arrested on July 20 following a physical altercation with another juvenile on the 2100 block of Denali Park. Police said the victim sustained a laceration above her eye with visible bleeding. The suspect was contacted later that evening and taken to Juvenile Hall, where she was booked without incident for felony battery.
Chevy Impala stolen from fenced yard
NEWMAN — A red Chevrolet Impala valued at $10,000 was reported stolen on July 21 from a fenced yard on the 1000 block of Q Street. Police said the padlock securing the gate was missing, but all vehicle keys were accounted for. The case has been closed after the vehicle was entered into the statewide stolen vehicle system. No suspects have been identified.
Arrests
Juvenile male, 16, of Newman was arrested on July 19 for warrant arrest–Stanislaus County (felony) and obstructing/resisting officer (felony).
Juvenile female, 12, of Newman was arrested on July 20 for battery (felony).
Gabriel Mesa, 50, of Newman was arrested on July 22 for warrant arrest–Stanislaus County (misdemeanor).
Juan Rivera Arizaga, 45, of Newman was arrested on July 24 for warrant arrest–Stanislaus County (misdemeanor).
Guillermina Andrade, 43, of Newman was arrested on July 24 for vandalism (felony).
Gustine Police Department
In the early hours of July 22, police investigated suspicious circumstances reported on the 1600 block of Via Basilicata at 12:19 a.m.; after a thorough check, officers found no cause for concern and closed the call at 1:35 a.m. with a “Checks OK” disposition.
On July 22, police were dispatched to the 300 block of Linden Avenue at 6:00 p.m. following a report of theft; the incident was documented and the call was closed at 6:54 p.m. under a “Card Closed” disposition.
On July 23, officers responded to an alarm activation on the 400 block of 5th Street at approximately 6:30 a.m.; the premises were checked and found secure, and the call was cleared at 6:39 a.m. with a “Checks OK” disposition.
On July 24, officers responded to a reported peace disturbance on the 300 block of Wallis Avenue at approximately 6:28 p.m.; the situation was resolved without incident and the call was closed by 6:49 p.m.
Arrests
Joaquin Chavez was taken into custody at 1:58 a.m. on July 21, 2025, near Highway 140 and 2nd Street for misdemeanor DUI alcohol.
Abraham Barajas Ramirez was arrested at 6:54 p.m. on July 24, in the 800 block of Walnut Drive for a misdemeanor bench warrant related to failure to appear.
