Misdemeanor theft reported on Canterbury Court

A misdemeanor theft was reported on July 29, in the hundred block of Canterbury Court. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. and was classified as a larceny from a motor vehicle. No suspect information or arrest details were immediately available. Gustine Police are investigating.

Theft reported at Gustine plumbing business

Police responded to a reported theft at A Plus Plumbing on the 500 block of 4th Street on July 30. Officers were dispatched at 5:17 p.m. and arrived within minutes. The incident was documented, and a report was taken. No arrests were made at the time of the call. The case remains under investigation.

 

Arrests

Totooalii Peniamina Asoau, 42, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. July 28 in the area of 4th Street and 4th Avenue for a warrant.

 

Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 71 calls for service and reported 77 officer-initiated calls for a total of 148 incidents from July 25 to July 31.

There were 15 cases opened and seven arrests. The department issued 10 traffic citations, 12 parking citations and towed two vehicles.

Vandalism reported on Yolo Street

Newman police officers responded to a vandalism report in the 1100 block of Yolo Street involving a 2010 Hyundai on July 29. A witness saw the suspect strike the vehicle’s front driver-side fender with a hammer, causing an estimated $350 in damage. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Church window damaged in rock-throwing incident

Newman Police received a report of vandalism on July 30 at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, located at 1121 Main Street. Rocks were thrown through the front window, but no entry was made. The suspect remains unknown, and no further information is available at this time.

 

Arrests


Alfonso Cruz Garcia, 35 of Seaside was arrested on July 27 for DUI and obstruct/resist officer.
James Richey, 61 of Turlock was arrested on July 29 for drunk in public.
Brian Lopez Suarez, 27 of Newman was arrested on July 29 for exhibition of speed.
Miguel Haro, 20 of Newman was arrested on July 30 for assault with a deadly weapon, not firearm.
