Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 89 calls for service and reported 38 officer-initiated calls for a total of 127 incidents from May 30 to June 5.

The department opened 21 cases and made seven arrests. There were six traffic citations issued, one criminal citation, four parking citations and 11 animal citations. One vehicle was towed.

 

Vandalism incidents reported in Newman

The Newman Police Department responded to multiple acts of vandalism in recent days, with several cases closed due to lack of leads.

On May 30, officers were dispatched to 1118 M Street following reports of a broken window on a Dodge Charger. Wires were visibly hanging from below the passenger side glove box, and the driver's side rear window had been shattered.

On June 1, a vehicle vandalism was reported in the 1900 block of Patrick Drive, where a green Ford had its tires slashed. Authorities currently have no further information regarding suspects.

That same day, officers responded to the 1200 block of Q Street for a report of a broken windshield on a Pontiac Grand Prix, valued at approximately $500. The case was closed due to lack of leads.

Later that evening, multiple vehicles were vandalized in the 2100 block of Prince Street, including two Honda models and a Mercedes Benz CLA250. Each vehicle sustained slashed tires, with damages ranging from $250 to $600. Police were unable to develop leads, resulting in case closure.

On June 3, officers investigated a report of vandalism at the PG&E substation on Merced Street. A fence had been cut open, and police had previously received a call about a suspicious individual rolling a spool of wire on June 1. When officers arrived, the spool was partially hidden behind a garbage can near the site but was later confirmed by PG&E workers as belonging to the utility company. The case was closed due to lack of leads.

Authorities urge residents to report any suspicious activity that could assist in identifying those responsible for these incidents.

Confidential male, 39, of Newman, was arrested on June 1, 2025, for domestic violence (misdemeanor).
Confidential male, 41, of Newman, was arrested on June 3, 2025, for domestic violence (felony).
Alessandro Diaz Villanueva, 24, of Newman, was arrested on June 3, 2025, for possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor).
Jacob Villareal, 30, of Newman, was arrested on June 4, 2025, for battery (misdemeanor).

The Gustine Police Department online records showed no arrests for the time period of May 30 to June 5.
