Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 76 calls for service and reported 106 officer-initiated calls for a total of 182 incidents from Oct. 24 to Oct. 30.

There were 27 cases opened and 15 arrests. The department issued 15 traffic citations, four criminal citations and one animal citation.

 

Newman Police Investigate Stolen Car, Recovered Safe

Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Oct. 24 in the 1000 block of Magpie Court. A 2019 black Honda Accord, valued at $15,000, was taken from the victim’s driveway by a suspect known to the victim. The vehicle remains outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 29, police investigated a larceny in the 200 block of Northampton. A safe containing documents and silver coins, valued at $1,750, was reported stolen. The safe was later recovered and returned to the victim. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review of potential charges.

 

Arrests

Donovan Rucobo, 23, of Los Banos was arrested on Oct. 24 for obstruct, resist police officer (misd) and fail to obey lawful order (misd).
Jose Miranda Garcia, 46, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 24 for unlicensed driver (misd), possession of drug paraphernalia (misd), possession of controlled substance for sale (fel), and warrant arrest-Stanislaus County (misd).
Valentin Prado, 56, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 25 for probation violation (fel) and fail to register sex offender (fel).
Alessandro Diaz Villanueva, 25, transient, was arrested on Oct. 25 for trespassing (misd) and disorderly conduct (misd).
Keith Bradley, 29, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 26 for warrant arrest-Stanislaus County (misd).
Jose Ortiz, 25, of Gustine was arrested on Oct. 26 for drive w/license suspended (misd).
Erica Chacon, 42, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 27 for drive w/license suspended (misd) and warrant arrest-Merced County (misd).
Mikeal Estrada, 33, of Modesto was arrested on Oct. 29 for warrant arrest-Stanislaus County (misd).
Confidential male, 46, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 29 for battery on person (misd).
Juvenile male, 13, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 29 for battery w/serious injury (fel).
Kevin Oropeza, 26, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 29 for warrant arrest-Newman PD (misd).

 

Gustine Police Department

Gustine Police Respond to Suspicious Activity, Vandalism, and Disorderly Conduct

Between Oct. 24 and Oct. 30, Gustine police responded to three notable incidents.

On Oct. 24 at 9:31 a.m., officers investigated a report of suspicious circumstances in the 700 block of 5th Avenue. The situation was resolved without further incident and the detail was marked complete within 20 minutes.

Later that afternoon, at 3:26 p.m., police responded to a misdemeanor-level disorderly conduct case near South Avenue and Elm Avenue. The incident resulted in one arrest.

On Oct. 30 at 9:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to a vandalism report near 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street. The detail was completed by 10:20 a.m. and the case remains under review.

 

Arrests

Moises Mendez, 51, was arrested at 3:31 p.m. on Oct. 24 for disorderly conduct involving alcohol (misdemeanor).
