On December 25, at 8:41 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle collision in the area of Davis Road and Interstate 5. On arrival, the fire crew found a single-occupant rolled-over vehicle off the roadway. The fire crew secured the property and assisted the occupant. No injuries were reported, and the damages were estimated at $4,000. The cause of the collision is unknown.
On December 28, at 9:50 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a potential structure fire in the area of Amy Drive and Driskell Avenue. On arrival, the fire crew found a single-story residential structure with nothing showing. The fire crew investigated and found that a surge protector malfunctioned, with a noticeable burnt smell throughout the residence. The fire crew secured the property, and the occupants were cleared back inside. The cause of the surge protector's malfunction was an electrical short. There were no injuries, and the damage was minimal.
On January 1, at 7:17 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle collision in the area of Dodds Road and Crows Landing Road. On arrival, the fire crew found a single vehicle with occupants outside. The vehicle had collided with a PG&E pole, knocking down wires. The fire crew secured the property and contacted PG&E. On January 6, at 9:33 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for another type of fire call in the area of Stoneglen Drive and Prince Road. On arrival, the fire crew found a two-story residence with nothing showing. During the investigation, the fire crew found a fire in the fireplace and sparks exiting through the chimney. Fire crews secured the property and advised getting the chimney cleaned. There were no injuries or damages.
