Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 55 calls for service and reported 89 officer-initiated calls for a total of 144 incidents from Jan. 2 to Jan. 8.

There were a total of 11 cases and six arrests, including five for unlicensed drivers. The department issued 17 traffic citations and one criminal citation. One vehicle was towed.

 

Arrests

William Bosshard, 35, of Manteca was arrested on Jan. 5 for a Merced County warrant arrest (misdemeanor).

 

Gustine Police Department

The Gustine Police Department handled several calls for service this past week, including reports of suspicious activity, a vehicle burglary and multiple thefts across town.

On Jan. 10, officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances near Portsmouth Lane and Southport Way. The call was cleared within minutes after officers determined no further action was needed.

A vehicle burglary was reported earlier in the week on Jan. 6 in the 800 block of Walnut Drive. Officers completed the investigation at the scene.

Police also handled three theft-related calls. The first occurred Jan. 8 on the 1200 block of Linden Avenue and was cleared after officers completed their detail. Two additional theft calls came in on Jan. 10 — one on the 1000 block of Elm Avenue and another on the 200 block of Via Palermo. Both were closed after officers completed their reports.

The department reported no arrests connected to these incidents.
