Gustine High School

GUSTINE—The Gustine Unified School District Board of Trustees has approved a contract to upgrade the lighting and sound systems in the Gustine High School auditorium, a move designed to enhance the quality of performances, presentations, and school events.

The board awarded the contract to Sound Contracting, a Fresno-based company specializing in audiovisual installations. The project will introduce state-of-the-art technology to the venue, improving sound clarity, volume control, and lighting capabilities for students, staff, and community members who utilize the space.

According to district documents, the total cost for the sound system upgrades is $38,328.78. The enhancements include the installation of high-performance speakers and modern digital audio controls, ensuring clearer acoustics and consistent sound distribution throughout the auditorium. The improved system aims to elevate the experience for assemblies, concerts, and theatrical productions.

In addition to the sound upgrades, the board approved an expenditure of $61,531.81 to replace outdated lighting fixtures with advanced systems that will provide better stage visibility and adaptability for various types of performances. The lighting improvements align with the district’s commitment to fostering student creativity by offering a professional-grade environment for artistic expression.

A significant component of the project is the addition of a theatrical wireless package, priced at **$29,247.44, which includes high-quality wireless microphone systems equipped with discrete over-the-ear microphones. The package will also feature training for staff and students on proper usage, ensuring the equipment is effectively integrated into productions and events.

District officials expressed enthusiasm for the upgrades, noting their potential to support student programs and expand opportunities for live performances and community gatherings.

"The improvements to the auditorium will provide students with a more professional-level performance space, allowing them to develop skills in music, theater, and public speaking," officials stated in a staff report.

The upgrades are part of a broader effort by Gustine Unified School District to enhance educational and extracurricular resources for students. Work on the auditorium is expected to commence in the coming months, with completion targeted ahead of the next academic year.
