CROWS LANDING — The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the second phase of the Bonita Pool Project in Crows Landing, paving the way for major upgrades that include a new playground, adult fitness equipment, picnic areas, benches, walking paths, and other park amenities.
The $650,000 expansion is funded by a Proposition 68 Per Capita Grant from the State of California and raises the total project cost to about $4.8 million. The upgrades build on improvements already underway to modernize the existing pool, restrooms, and support facilities, which began construction in February.
“We’re incredibly excited to see the second phase of the Bonita pool project moving forward,” said Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit, whose District 5 includes Crows Landing. “This pool will be a place where our kids can stay active, learn essential water safety skills, and build lifelong memories with friends and family.”
Officials expect the initial work—including pool renovations and facility upgrades—to be completed by July 31, with phase two site improvements beginning shortly after and wrapping up by the end of 2025. The playground and exercise equipment are expected to be installed and open to the public by late spring or early summer 2026.
“This expansion fulfills the original vision for Bonita Park by creating a full recreational space for families and residents of all ages,” county officials said.
The county will partner with existing contractors to complete the site work and ensure the park meets accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The funding increase also covers benches, barbecues, accessible walkways, and updated landscaping. The project remains fully grant-funded with no additional cost to local taxpayers.
“I’m proud of the progress we’re making to invest in Crows Landing and improve the quality of life for our residents,” Condit said.
