The City of Gustine is currently looking to fill three vacancy positions this month. City council members approved a resolution on adopting the job descriptions for two positions, human resource manager and deputy city clerk, recently.
Melanie Correa, the city manager, said recruitment for the positions will begin later this week and will close in January with the hopes of getting those positions filled by then. She added that she’s still looking for a public works director.
To accommodate the city’s adopted 2025-26 fiscal year budget, an updated city employees salary schedule was also approved. Both positions will start at $65,000 annually with a possible increase of $79,008, according to the meeting documents. The budget includes the allocation of both positions’ salaries, according to meeting documents.
Gustine has gone through changes to its staff this year, specifically at the city manager position. Soknirorn Than, former city manager, resigned in October after 20 months to become the city manager in Los Banos. This led to Correa becoming the interim appointee until officials approved the city manager’s employment contract on Dec. 2, clearing the way for her to take over on Jan. 1, 2026. Correa was sworn in during Tuesday’s meeting.
While the search to fill the vacancy positions continues, Gustine has been without a public works director for more than three months. Gary Ingram, former public works director for the city, told the Westside Connect in a text message on Thursday that he was let go in September. Ingram stated that he currently works within wastewater operations for the city of Livingston.
