NEWMAN — The Newman City Council will convene Wednesday, Nov. 12, instead of its usual Tuesday slot, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

The meeting will include a badge pinning ceremony for Newman Police Officers Wylie Ethan Brewer and Peter Kennedy, recognizing their recent appointments and service to the community.

Council members are also expected to adopt Resolution No. 2025-, formally accepting the completion of the 2024 Slurry Seals Project. The resolution would authorize the city clerk to record a Notice of Completion with Stanislaus County and allow the city manager to issue final payment of $25,413.31 in retention funds to American Pavement Systems, Inc., 35 days after the notice is filed.

The street maintenance project, funded through SB1 revenues, included pavement crack sealing, the application of approximately 806 tons of slurry seal, and restriping on various city streets. Originally awarded for $367,645.36, the contract was amended through two change orders and a balancing adjustment, bringing the final cost to $508,266.27. City staff confirmed the work was completed on time and met all specifications following a final inspection.

The council meeting will be held at City Hall and is open to the public.
