Sacramento — Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Merced) shared her new role as Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and provided details about her updated committee assignments for the 2025-2026 session.
Her new position as Chair of the Committee on Agriculture is particularly significant for her district, located in California’s Central Valley and includes Gustine, a region at the heart of the state’s agricultural economy. Senator Caballero took the opportunity to thank Senate President Pro Tempore Emeritus, Mike McGuire for his leadership during the previous legislative sessions and welcomed the Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limon.
“Pro Tem Emeritus McGuire has been an exceptional leader, and I am grateful for the trust he placed in me during my time as Chair of the Appropriations Committee. It has been an honor to serve with him. As the Senate transitions to new leadership, I want to express my deep appreciation for his guidance. I also want to congratulate Madam Pro Tem Limón on her election and installation as the first Latina to hold this prestigious position to lead the California State Senate. Her leadership marks a historic moment for the Senate and the state of California, and I look forward to working with her to build a more inclusive and prosperous future for all Californians.”
