PATTERSON—Del Puerto Health Care District (DPHCD) has secured a $27 million grant to construct a Community Mental Health Clinic in Patterson, expanding behavioral health services for residents across the Westside.

The district also recently approved development impact fees to help fund its new healthcare campus, ensuring sustainable infrastructure for future growth.

The state-of-the-art mental health clinic, funded through California’s Proposition 1 Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP), will provide vital care for individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. The 14,000-square-foot facility will feature 16 therapy rooms, spaces for group and family counseling, early intervention services for youth, and crisis support. Residents will have access to individual therapy, creative therapies, medication management, and telehealth.

“This grant represents a transformative investment in the well-being of Patterson,” said Patterson Mayor Michael Clauzel. “Expanding access to behavioral health services, especially for our youth and families, will strengthen the fabric of our community for generations to come. Every Patterson resident deserves timely, compassionate care, and this clinic brings that care closer to home.”

The clinic will also play a role in workforce development through partnerships with CSU Stanislaus and UC Merced, offering training opportunities for future mental health professionals.

“This project is more than a new clinic—it’s an investment in the next generation of mental health professionals,” said Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit. “By establishing partnerships with our local universities, Del Puerto Health Care District’s new clinic is helping to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled providers who will serve our region for decades. This grant ensures that the Central Valley not only expands access to care but also grows the local workforce needed to deliver it.”

The mental health clinic is the first planned facility in the phased development of DPHCD’s new healthcare campus, which will eventually include urgent care, primary and specialty care, assisted living, memory care, and inpatient services.

To support the long-term development of the campus, the Del Puerto Health Care District Board recently approved development impact fees that will help fund construction. Officials say the fees will ensure that new growth in the city contributes to critical healthcare infrastructure without placing the financial burden on current residents.

“As our city grows, so must the infrastructure that keeps our community healthy and thriving,” said DPHCD Board President Becky Campo. “This vote is a critical step toward ensuring our healthcare system can meet future needs. By approving these development impact fees, we’re making sure new growth helps fund the essential healthcare campus it will rely on, without placing the burden on current residents. This is a win for public health and for the future of Patterson.”

Construction of the mental health clinic and an adjacent ambulance center is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
