GUSTINE — Drivers in Gustine should prepare for delays and detours as the city temporarily closes a section of State Route 140/33 to complete emergency water line repairs.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of SR140/33 will be closed to local traffic between 7th and 8th streets. The closure is necessary to restore asphalt pavement damaged during a water line break last week, according to city officials.

Motorists will encounter full road closures and restricted pedestrian access in the work zone. Detour signage will be posted to guide traffic around the area. Construction activity and noise are expected during daylight hours, but access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The City of Gustine is asking residents to use alternate routes and exercise caution near the closure. “We understand this may cause temporary inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we complete this essential repair,” the city said in a statement.
