Merced, CA – Golden Valley Health Center, in collaboration with Central Valley PACE, is proud to host Diabetes Education event on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Valley PACE, 727 W Childs Ave, Merced, CA 95341.
This free community event aims to empower individuals living with diabetes—and those who care for them—with practical tools, expert advice, and a deeper understanding of diabetes management. The event will feature an informational presentation by Marit Medefind, MSN, RN, CDCES, BC-ADM, who serves as Golden Valley Health Centers’ Certified Diabetes Educator.
“Diabetes is truly a public health crisis,” said Medefind. “It is anticipated that by the year 2050, around 50% of Americans will be living with prediabetes or diabetes (many of them undiagnosed). Diabetes education empowers people living with diabetes to make healthy choices,” she added. “Managing diabetes can be very challenging, and diabetes education gives you the support and tools you need to manage your condition with confidence.”
Diabetes affects nearly 20,000 Golden Valley patients and most every family in some way. Education, support, and connection are critical because managing diabetes starts with understanding it.
Event attendees will be provided information, including blood sugar control tips, healthy lifestyle choices and best practices for managing diabetes effectively. Light refreshments will be provided. Space is limited. Information provided in English and Spanish.
