PATTERSON — Stanislaus County supervisors are set to decide Tuesday whether to move forward with the rebuilding of Frank Raines Regional Park, a popular recreation spot damaged by wildfires in 2020.
The plan, if approved, would formally invite bids for the construction project and allocate $2.52 million to cover rebuilding costs. The improvements would include a new ranger station, an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant restroom, a storage facility, and hundreds of feet of fencing to restore the park’s functionality.
Frank Raines Regional Park, located in the rugged hills west of Patterson, has been closed for major renovations since the Santa Clara Unit Lightning Complex Fires destroyed key facilities in the park’s day-use and off-highway vehicle areas. Since then, county officials have worked to clear hazardous materials and secure funding to rebuild the structures lost in the fire.
“This rebuild project will allow us to restore essential facilities so visitors can enjoy everything the park has to offer again,” county officials said in a statement.
If the Board of Supervisors approves the project, bidding for construction contracts will open immediately, with bid submissions due by June 25. Once a contractor is chosen, work will begin to bring the park back to full operation.
