Inga Dorothea Poetsch passed away February 24, 2025, peacefully at the age of 90 in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her loved ones by her side.
Born in Heppenheim, Germany, to Hildegard and Herman Gramlich, Inga decided to move to New York to start a new life in America. She eventually traveled across the country and settled in San Francisco, California. There, Inga raised her two very loved children, Peter Smith and Barbara Eibach. Inga later remarried the love of her life, Wolfdieter Poetsch, where they lived out their retirement in Gustine, California until Wolfdieter passed in 2016.
Following Dieter’s death, Inga moved to Greeley, Colorado, to be near her granddaughter, Natasha De Jager, her daughter, Barbara, and her three great grandsons. She was known as “Omi” and was loved and cherished by all the boys.
Inga enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved traveling back to Germany to visit her brothers, Peter and Hans Jochen Gramlich, and other relatives. Inga and Dieter’s favorite place to vacation became Waikiki in Hawaii. She always had an eye for the more opulent things in life and was always dressed to the nines.
Inga is survived by her son, Peter Smith and wife Susan, daughter, Barbara Eibach, three grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Phillip Smith, Natasha and Aric De Jager and five great grandchildren.
Inga has now been reunited in heaven with Opa Dieter and her sweet dog, Beau. Love you forever and ever….
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 6th, at 11:30 am, at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. We welcome you to join us. Contact Barbara Eibach at 408-823-8030 for more information.
