The family of Robert Pfitzer is saddened to announce his passing at Valley Springs Memory Care on December 6, 2025.
Born April 18, 1942, in Gustine, CA to George and Ella Pfitzer, he attended local schools, graduating with the class of 1960. He went on to attend the University of California, Davis, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Irrigation in 1964.
Robert had a zest for living. He was hardworking, always on the go, and ready for a new challenge. He raced go karts and sports cars but always regretted not getting his pilot license.
Robert loved woodworking and making wine and also enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He received his contractor's license and built several homes in Los Banos, including the first solar home in Los Banos in the 1980s. His final build was a beautiful dream home on family acreage.
Robert was a member and past president of the Los Banos Lions Club and a member and chair of the Los Banos Planning Commission.
He is survived by his wife, Diana, two children Brent Pfitzer of Rocklin, CA, and Andrea Pfitzer of Roseville, CA, stepson Sean Wheeler of Los Banos, and grandchildren Aiden Pfitzer, Ashton Pfitzer, Amaiya Pfitzer, and Madison Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother William Bill Pfitzer.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on January 9, 2026, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Los Banos, with a rosary at 10 AM followed by Mass at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Bristol Hospice, 374 E. Yosemite Avenue #200, Merced, CA 95340.
