De La Cruz shines at invitational

SACRAMENTO – Samantha De La Cruz had another strong outing for the Orestimba High girls' cross-country team on Saturday.

Taking part in the 9th annual Flat Sac Invitational at Gibson Ranch Regional Park, De La Cruz, a junior, competed in the 5,000 meters girls varsity small school division. She took 15th place with a time of 20 minutes, 29.21 seconds on the course terrain that is grass, dirt and open fields and trails.

Lily Rodriguez was another Warrior girl who competed in the race, taking 122nd place at 31:38.07.

For the boys, Orestimba’s Joseph Garcia took 42nd place in the 5,000 meters boys varsity small schools division with a time of 17:44.79.

Emmanuel Garabito finished 113rd place at 19:09.45 for the Warriors. Carlos Carranza came at 208th at 24:01.23, Savir Galvan at 214th at 25:08.35 and Christopher Enriquez 218th at 26:36.35.

Next invitational for the Orestimba harriers is the Trans-Valley League Finals, which will be taking place at the Ceres River Bluff Regional Park on Wednesday.
