Orestimba volleyball drops final two, prepares for tough playoff test against West Campus
sports

The Orestimba Warriors closed out their regular season with back-to-back losses, falling 3-0 to both Ripon Christian and Escalon in Trans Valley League play. The defeats extended their road losing streak to seven and dropped their overall record to 11-20 heading into the postseason.

On Tuesday, Orestimba hosted Ripon Christian, where the Knights dominated in straight sets to improve to 20-9. The Warriors then traveled to Escalon on Thursday, hoping to reverse their fortunes, but the Cougars proved too strong once again. Escalon swept Orestimba 25-13, 25-19, 25-14, marking the second time this season the Cougars have blanked the Warriors.

Escalon’s win snapped a three-match home skid and lifted their record to 13-15. The Cougars delivered one of their most decisive victories since September 30, thanks in part to standout performances like that of Emma Rangel, who tallied ten digs and three assists—her highest assist total since early fall.

Now, both teams turn their attention to the playoffs. Orestimba faces a daunting road matchup against West Campus on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The Warriors enter the contest on a seven-game road skid, while West Campus rides a wave of momentum with 15 consecutive wins and a 32-4 record. Most recently, West Campus dismantled Burbank in a 3-0 sweep, allowing just 33 points across three sets.

Escalon, meanwhile, will host Liberty Ranch in their playoff opener, also scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

For Orestimba, the postseason presents a chance to reset and rally. But with West Campus surging and the Warriors struggling to find rhythm on the road, Tuesday’s matchup will demand their sharpest execution yet.
