GUSTINE — The Gustine varsity boys soccer team kept its momentum rolling on the night of Jan. 5, with a commanding 9-0 shutout of Stone Ridge Christian, extending the Reds’ win streak to two matches and showcasing one of their most complete performances of the season.
Gustine (4-6-1) took control from the opening whistle. Jamie Gomez set the tone early, slicing through the Knights’ backline and completing a hat trick before halftime. Ivan Castro and Alex Quezada each added first‑half goals, giving the Reds a 5-0 lead at the break while Gustine’s midfield dominated possession and kept Stone Ridge Christian (0-7) pinned in its own half.
The Reds continued to press in the second period, turning the match into a balanced team effort. Crue Correa opened the second‑half scoring, Quezada added his second goal of the night, and Angel Montes and Chris Guzman each found the net as Gustine’s depth took over. Defensively, the Reds remained disciplined and organized, denying the Knights any meaningful chances and securing the clean sheet.
Gomez finished with three goals, Quezada added two, and Castro, Correa, Montes and Guzman each scored once in the rout.
Riding a two‑match surge, the Reds will look to make it three straight when they travel to Delhi for a conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 5 p.m.
