Newman Fire Department

The Newman Fire Station responded to 24 calls for service from October 3 to 9. The calls included 10 for Emergency Medical Services, four vehicle collisions, one public assist, one smoke check call, one fire out call, one potential structure fire, one fire assist to another agency, two vegetation fires, and three false alarms.

On October 4, at 4:28 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle accident in the area of Draper Road and Hoyer Road. On arrival, the fire crew found two vehicles involved, blocking the roadway. The fire crews secured the vehicles and attended to the occupants. One patient sustained moderate injuries, and the damages were estimated at $25,000.

On October 6, at 8:11 a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a fire assist to another agency in the area of Brazo Road and Santa Fe Grade. On arrival, the fire crews found a tractor inside a barn that was fully involved in flames. The fire crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire and secured the rest of the property. The cause is undetermined, and the damages were estimated at $300,000. There are no injuries to report.

On October 7, at 12:12 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a potential structure fire in the area of Pine Street and Inyo Avenue. On arrival, the fire crews found a faulty water heater. The property was secured, and the cause was identified as a malfunctioning ignitor. There are no damages or injuries to report.

On October 7, at 11:29 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vegetation fire in the area of Draper Road and Orestimba Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a roadside grass fire with power lines threatened. The fire crews quickly worked to extinguish the fire and secure the power lines. The cause of the fire is undetermined, and there are no injuries or damages to report.

 

Gustine Fire Department

The Gustine Fire Department responded to 10 calls from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6. The calls included six for Emergency Medical Services, one alarm sounding, one debris fire, one vegetation fire and one commercial vehicle fire.
