The Orestimba High flag football team is making a habit of turning close contests into blowouts, and Monday’s matchup against Hughson was no exception. After dropping a heartbreaker the last time the two teams met, the Warriors got their revenge in emphatic fashion, shutting out the Huskies 33-0.
The win marked Orestimba’s tenth victory this season by a margin of 19 points or more, underscoring the team’s dominance on both sides of the ball. Key touchdowns came from Imelda Beltran-Pelayo, Madelyn Perez, and Natalie Corella, while the defense made life miserable for Hughson’s quarterback, snagging three interceptions courtesy of Perez and Salece Machado.
The Warriors followed up Monday’s rout with another commanding performance on Wednesday, cruising past Ripon 39-20 to notch their seventh straight win. Ranked No. 63 in California by MaxPreps, Orestimba showed why they’re one of the state’s top teams, outclassing the No. 344-ranked Indians from the opening whistle.
Beltran-Pelayo continued her hot streak, hauling in multiple receiving touchdowns for the fourth consecutive game and adding an interception to her stat line. Julianna Figueroa and Johanna Perez also picked off passes, contributing to a defensive effort that has become a hallmark of Orestimba’s success.
Despite the loss, Ripon had standout performances from quarterback Ana Shriver, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns, and receiver Ava Aguirre, who racked up 147 receiving yards.
With the back-to-back wins, Orestimba improved to 18-2 on the season and has now won 13 of its last 14 games, averaging 33.5 points per contest during that stretch. The Warriors were scheduled to face Sonora before press time and will travel to Escalon for a 4:30 p.m. game on Wednesday.
