MERCED — A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times during a fight Sunday night at the Merced County Fairgrounds, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies working at the fair responded to the carnival area after reports of a physical altercation. When they arrived, they found the teen suffering from several stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Through their investigation, deputies identified three suspects: 26-year-old Nathaniel Yanez and two juveniles. All three were taken into custody Sunday night.
Sheriff’s officials said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident, though the investigation is ongoing. The department also acknowledged that several videos of the altercation have circulated online and thanked community members who shared information.
