Lynn Carey, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on September 7, 1952, in Patterson, California, and moved to Newman at the age of four.

Lynn was known for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and unconditional love for others. She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for. Her home was a place where family, friends, and many of her daughters’ friends gathered, finding not only a warm meal but also a second home and a second mom.

Throughout her life, Lynn worked in many fields, including hospitality, restaurant management, office management, a domestic violence advocate, and an on-call crisis worker. She also assisted her husband, Bruce, in managing his private investigation business, where her wisdom, discernment, and attention to detail were invaluable.

Lynn had a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, decorating, creating art, cooking, and shopping. She was an exceptional cook and gifted hostess who found great joy in bringing people together around the table. Caring for her home and family was one of the ways she expressed her love for those around her.

Above all else, Lynn treasured her family. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother brought her the greatest joy. Affectionately known as “Nana,” she loved encouraging her grandchildren, celebrating their unique gifts, and reminding them how deeply they were loved. She often said, “God gave me the best gift ever—my family,” reflecting the love and gratitude that defined her life.

Lynn is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Carey; daughters, Sandi Olson (David), Danielle Carey-Loughton, and Dana Carey; mother, Marian Boze-Channey; sister, Patricia Murphy; and her cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Logan, Finley, Jacob, Adison, Quinn, Nora, Sterling, and Levi.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Boze; brothers, Ricky Hope and Mitchell Boze; sister, Laurie Boze; and her beloved son, Stacy Carey.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1PM to 4 PM on Saturday, August 15th at the Mason Jar located on Main Street in Newman.
