NEWMAN – A combined four Orestimba and Gustine High football players will suit up for one more game this weekend.
The Warrior and Reds players will be teammates, taking part in the 3rd annual Merced County All-Star Football Classic. The game will be played at Golden Valley High School in Merced on Saturday, which is scheduled for kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
The Westside football players, all of whom graduated recently, will be members of the North team that will be handled by Hilmar head coach Frank Marques and his coaching staff.
The three Orestimba players scheduled to play are wide receiver/linebacker Richie Rivas, defensive end Richie Ebert and defensive tackle Robert Corella.
In 10 of the Warriors’ 11 games during the 2025 season, Rivas had 28 receptions for 482 yards and four touchdowns. From his free safety spot on defense, Rivas had 48 tackles.
Ebert was also a force for Orestimba (2-9 during the 2025 season) with 43 tackles, plus a fumble recovery and 1 ½ sacks. Corella finished with 41 tackles.
Gustine’s lone representative is wide receiver/defensive back Daniel Navarro. He had 26 carries for 132 yards and a touchdown during the 2025 season for the Reds, who also went 2-9.
The rest of the North players come from Atwater, Pitman of Turlock, Livingston, Los Banos, Delhi, Patterson Buhach Colony of Atwater, Denair and Pacheco of Los Banos.
The all-star football players for the South squad, which is being handled by El Capitan head coach Xavier Ramirez and his coaching staff, come from Merced, Summerville, El Capitan of Merced, Stone Ridge Christian of Merced, Torres of Madera, LeGrand, Madera South, Mariposa, Dos Palos, Sonora, Chowchilla and Golden Valley of Merced.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
