Orestimba Warriors varsity softball team won their final game of a 2-day long tournament against Beyer High School, 9-0. The Warriors ended the tournament on Friday, 3-1, moving their season record to 4-2.

The Warriors participated in a 2-day tournament at George Costa Fields in Ceres. The Warriors were successful against Central Valley High School, winning 7-4 on Thursday. Then on the same day, the Warriors stumped the Chavez High School Titans, 15-0, with a landslide win. But the Warriors would face their first loss on Friday against Riverbank High School, but barely, 4-3.

Against Beyer High School, the Warriors finished their tournament strong. Both teams were at a standstill until the 5th inning. Making a team effort to bring the Warriors across home plate. Leaving Beyer at a zero score. Hailey Starr (42) would pitch during the entire game, leaving no Beyer Patriot to get past her. Totaling 7-strikeouts for the night.

The prior season the Warriors went 25-5, 14-0 in league and placed 1st in the Southern Athletic League. Proceeding to the second round of regional semifinals, but falling short of the University Prep. This year, the Warriors are eager to make it all the way. Coach Martin Oliveira would comment on the girl’s season outlook.

“Looks promising, we have the majority of our starting lineup back. We have some speed that came up from JV with the addition of a few freshmen to add to all that. We should be top contenders again this season,” said coach Oliveira.

This week, the Warriors will have two away games. Their first matchup will be against Patterson High School Tigers, starting at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will then travel to Pacific Grove High School Breakers, starting at 6:00 p.m.
