NEWMAN – In two Trans-Valley League matches last week, the Orestimba High boys volleyball team came away with a victory.

The Warriors ended the week with a non-league road match for three matches total.

Here are the results of those matches for Orestimba, which is 2-8 in the TVL and 5-19 overall.

River Islands 3, Orestimba 0

This non-league match, played in Lathrop on Thursday, had River Islands winning by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-13.

Ethan Costa had nine kills to pace the visiting Warriors.

Cade Lobo followed with 11 digs and Bryant Badong nine. Costa had six.

Badong also had 13 assists.

Ripon 3, Orestimba 0

In a TVL contest inside the Indians’ gym on April 15, Ripon posted scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-14.

Costa had five kills in this match. Lobo had seven digs and Costa five. Miguel Hernandez and Badong each had two.

Badong finished with five assists.

Orestimba 3, Riverbank 0

The Warriors were at home for their April 13 contest against the Bruins, this time on the winning side of a sweep with scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-17.

This was the second time this season Orestimba beat the Bruins, also in a sweep. The first one came inside Riverbank’s gym on March 18.

Costa had another hot hand for the Warriors with 11 kills and Hernandez recorded three.

Lobo finished with five assists. Steven Aguliar, along with Badong, Costa and Mikie Mora, each had two.

Lobo continued to dive to the ground for the Warriors, registering 14 digs. Badong had five and Efron Gonzalez, Aguilar, Hernandez and Costa each had four.

Upcoming matches

On Monday, Orestimba continued TVL action at home against Hilmar.

Moving to Wednesday at 6 p.m., the Warriors make the short trek to Modesto to play Big Valley Christian High’s team.
