The Gustine Unified School District Board of Trustees voted 3-0 to approve the appointment of Gustine High Principal Brittney Bloom last Wednesday.

Bloom comes to Gustine after she previously served as the assistant principal at Orestimba High School. She is the successor to Adam Cano, who resigned last month to become the assistant superintendent at Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District.

District personnel held interviews for the principal position last month. The candidates were individuals with prior administrative experience, according to District Superintendent Bryan Ballenger. Through one round of interviews, it became clear that Bloom was the best candidate, he said.

“Her ability to work with staff and take input and guidance, and, most importantly, the kids,” Ballenger said. “The quality that comes through with Brittany is that she cares a lot about students and wants to be the difference maker in their educational experience at the high school level.”

While she has already begun her new role, Ballenger said he believes Bloom will evolve as a leader and will take Gustine High to “the next level.”

“She’s already hit the ground running and doing tremendous things in those areas,” he said. “We’re just excited to have Brittany on board and can’t wait to see what she does.”
