The Gustine Unified School District Board of Trustees voted 3-0 to approve its 2025-26 unaudited report in last Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting.

The report focused on the district’s budget and how it compares to last year’s second interim budget. GUSD Chief Business Officer Jody Edwards said the district should focus on maintaining its budget “in the positives” at the end of the year.

In its revenue, GUSD saw a $73,917 increase in its Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) at $25.4 million and $417,878 increase through local funding at more than $2 million. However, the district received $1.4 million less in both state and federal funding.

Books and supplies saw the biggest difference within GUSD’s expenditures as it spent $1.7 million less than the second interim at $1.5 million. Edwards said some of the Chromebook purchases that district staff tried to order last year didn’t happen until this year.

There was also a noticeable difference in funding for certificated and classified employees salaries. Funding for certificated was $263,523 less in its second interim at $12.8 million. Classified funding saw a minuscule funding increase of $32,117 at $4.9 million.

Compared to the 2024-25 unaudited actual, last year was $1.3 million less at $13.2 million. $6.9 million was restricted and $6.5 million was unrestricted, according to the budget’s PowerPoint Presentation.
