NEWMAN - Two things seem certain for the Orestimba High School football team.
One, the Warriors will close out Trans-Valley League action at Warrior Stadium this Friday. Two, no matter the outcome of its contest, Orestimba will see some type of postseason action next week.
But the focus is this Friday at Warrior Stadium, where Orestimba (0-5 in the TVL, 4-5 overall) will welcome second place Escalon (4-1 in the TVL, 6-3). The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Orestimba is looking to bounce back after Ripon posted a 43-7 win at Stouffer Field on Friday. The game was at Stouffer Field at Ripon High.
After losing to Hilmar (5-0 in the TVL, 9-0) posted a wild 36-32 on Oct. 2, Escalon has won its last three games. The most recent was on Friday, going into overtime to post a 35-34 win over Sonora at Memorial Stadium at Escalon High.
Win or lose, Orestimba should see an extension to its season for one more week. That is because the Sac-Joaquin Section will be holding bowl games again this season.
The section started holding bowl games in 2025 after the regular season. The bowl games are for high school football teams that just missed earning a playoff berth and have at least one win.
The bowl games are scheduled to be played on Friday, Nov. 13 at various sites.

Orestimba quarterback Jorden Jacobo has completed 85 of 175 passes for 1,094 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games this season. He also has four rushing touchdowns for a combined 14.
