Charles Warren “Chuck” Kidder, 81, October 30, 1942 - February 28, 2024.
Born on October 30, 1942 to Donald and Avis Kidder, his sister (who was hoping for a baby sister) always claimed the witches brought him. He attended local Newman schools, graduating with the Orestimba High School class of 1961, the last class to graduate from the old high school.
He married his wife of 60 years, Glennis, in 1963 and soon went to work for P.G.& E, a job he held for 37 years, ending as an electrical line foreman.
He was an avid hunter, his life’s passion was hiking the coast range mountains looking for game and watching the sunrise from a duck blind, before bagging a limit of ducks.
It was a passion he shared with friends and passing his love of the hunt and outdoors on to his son and grandson. Another passion he developed in later life which started as another one of his wife’s crazy ideas and he grudgingly agreed to, kicking and screaming the whole way, was taking their 5’ wheel and acting as Camp Hosts at Miramonte Lake in Colorado. He soon fell in love with hiking the landscape of Colorado and working with the Division of Wildlife for several years and was something he glowingly talked about the rest of his life.
He was a man who firmly believed in making lists and was fully prepared for any event or situation. He always carried a pocket organizer to write down anything he thought of to add to his lists. He kept a binder of his lists which included a list of his lists.
He served several years as a Newman Scout Leader, sharing his passion of the outdoors and skills to many of Newman’s young men. He was a critical thinker and with pencil and paper could design, build or modify anything he could think of.
Chuck leaves behind his wife Glennis, his son Russ (Shanah), his granddaughter Kylie Skidmore (Ben) and his grandson Hunter. Also two great grandsons and many nieces and nephews and their former Swedish exchange student daughter Renee Ferm Liden of Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy, his parents, Donald and Avis Kidder, his two brothers, Donnie and Sam and his sister, Luanne Stewart.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 13th at 10:00 am at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery.
Those attending the funeral services who wish to wear camo clothing in honor of Chuck are urged to do so by family.
