NEWMAN – Four Orestimba and Gustine High flag football players will be on the field on Saturday.
The three Warriors and lone Reds girls are taking part in the 3rd annual Merced County All-Star Football Classic. This game will take place at Golden Valley High School of Merced starting at 5:30 p.m. The quartet is part of the Blue roster.
The three Orestimba players, who were part of the 2025 team that won the Trans-Valley League crown and had a deep run in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Flag Football Playoffs – Division IV, are wide receiver/tight end Imelda Betran-Pelayo, running back/linebacker Marian Queveda and receiver/safety Maddie Perez.
Beltran-Pelayo averaged 69.8 yards receiving during the 2025 season for the Warriors. Queveda, on the ground, averaged 24.1 yards per game and Perez was second on the team with 15 interceptions.
Gustine, which went 3-18 overall during the 2025 season, has its lone representative in wide receiver Hailey Haro. During last season, Haro scored 31 points for the Reds.
Other players from other high schools on the Blue roster are from Livingston, Ceres, Turlock, Pitman of Turlock, Hilmar, Central Valley of Ceres, Pacheco of Los Banos, Patterson and Los Banos.
Hilmar head coach Anthony Leal and his coaching staff are running the Blue team.
They Blue team will square off against the Gold team. Gold team players are from Atwater, Buhach Colony of Atwater, El Capitan of Merced, Golden Valley, Madera South, Mariposa, Sonora and Torres of Madera.
El Capitan head coach Juan Valvodino and his staff are handling the Gold squad.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
