Newman Fire Department
The Newman Fire Station responded to 19 calls for service from May 2 to May 8. The calls included nine for Emergency Medical Services, two public assists, one vehicle collision, two mutual aid calls, one unknown fire call, one illegal burn call, two smoke checks and one vehicle fire calls.
At 4:48 p.m. on May 4, the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle collision in the area of Interstate 5 and Fink Road. Upon arrival, the fire crews found a multiple-car collision with one car having struck the center divider. The fire crews provided traffic control while the vehicle was being removed. Minor injuries were reported, and damages were estimated at $20,000.
At 6:40 p.m. on May 5, the Newman Station was dispatched for a smoke check in the block of 14000 Crows Landing Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a river bottom fire. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries or damages to report. The cause of the fire is unknown.
At 11:33 p.m. on May 5, the Newman Station was dispatched for an unknown type of fire in the 24000 block of Bell Road. Upon arrival, the fire crews found a quarter-acre of vegetation on fire. The fire crews rapidly extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was from downed power lines. There were no injury reports or damage.
At 5:38 a.m. on May 6, the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle fire in the area of Oak Flat Road and Interstate 5. Upon arrival, the fire crews found a semi-trailer fully engulfed in flames. The fire crews rapidly extinguished the fire and provided traffic control. The cause of the fire and the damage estimate are unknown. There were no injuries to report.
At 3:10 p.m. on May 6, the Newman Station was dispatched for an illegal burn on the 900 block of Lee Avenue. On arrival, the fire crews found an occupant burning vegetation. The fire crews advised the occupant of the no-burn ordinance and extinguished the fire. There are no injuries or damages to report.
Gustine Fire Department
The Gustine Fire Station responded to 17 calls for service from April 27 to May 3. The calls included nine for Emergency Medical Services, two vehicle collisions, three fire calls and three public assists.
