TURLOCK — A man was shot and killed early Sunday in the 1100 block of Park Street, prompting a homicide investigation by the Turlock Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 2:26 a.m. Aug. 9 and arrived to find an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family, police said.
Officers secured the area and took Corey Pollard Jr., 18, of Los Banos, into custody at the scene. After further investigation, detectives booked Pollard into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of murder.
Acting Police Chief Steve Rodrigues said the department’s thoughts are with the victim’s family and praised the quick response of officers, dispatchers, emergency personnel and detectives. He noted that while an arrest has been made, the case remains active as detectives work to determine what led to the shooting.
The department thanked the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office for assisting during the incident.
