Newman Police
The Newman Police Department responded to 81 calls for service and reported 117 officer-initiated calls from Feb. 23 to Feb. 29.
There were 14 cases opened and seven arrests. The department issued seven traffic citations and nine parking citations. Two vehicles were towed.
DUI
At 11:46 p.m. on Feb. 24, Newman police officers observed a blue VW sedan illegally passing cars on Highway 33 across a double yellow line. As officers caught up to the vehicle it again made an illegal pass in the two way left turn lane near the intersection of Highway 33 and Merced Street.
The vehicle then yielded to officers in front of Burger King. When officers made contact with the driver he stated that his driving behavior was due to having to use the restroom.
While speaking with the driver the officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the car and the driver had slurred speech with watery and glossy eyes. Field sobriety tests were performed and the driver blew a blood alcohol content of .011%. The driver, Bryan Reyes Diaz, 22, of Manteca was placed under arrest for a DUI, DUI of .08 or more and being an unlicensed driver.
Arrests
Jose Ochoa, 63, of Newman was arrested on Feb. 23 for warrants.
Adrian Nunez, 25, of Hilmar was arrested on Feb. 24 for driving on a suspended license.
Bryan Reyes Diaz, 22, of Manteca was arrested on Feb. 24 for a DUI, DUI of .08 or more and being an unlicensed driver.
Jennifer Tennis, 33, of Dublin was arrested on Feb. 25 for driving on a suspended license.
A 16-year-old Newman girl was arrested on Feb. 28 for battery.
A 16-year-old Newman girl was arrested on Feb. 28 for battery.
A 44-year-old Newman man was arrested on Feb. 28 for domestic violence.
Gustine Police
A vandalism was reported at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 29. A woman contacted the police department to report that the rear window of her Toyota Camry was shattered while parked in an alley on 6th Street.
Arrests
Henry Yovanni Perez Isidro, 33, was arrested at 12:27 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the area of 6th Street and 4th Avenue for DUI, DUI of .08 or more, a warrant, failure to stop at the limit line and driving without a license.
Frank Edward Salas III, 26, was arrested at 10:29 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the 300 block of 5th Street for disorderly conduct.
Erik Noguez, 18, was arrested at 12:29 a.m. on Feb. 24 in the area of Sullivan Road and Grove Avenue for obstructing or resisting and driving without a license.
