Newman Police

The Newman Police Department received 104 calls for service and reported 146 officer-initiated calls for a total of 250 incidents from Dec. 21 to Dec. 31. There were 39 cases opened and 28 arrests were made, including 13 for driving without a license. 

The department issued 32 traffic citations, six criminal citations, six parking citations and had five vehicles towed.

Arrests

Alexis Jimenez, 25, of Patterson was arrested on Dec. 22 for driving on a suspended license.

A 47-year-old Newman man was arrested on Dec. 22 for domestic violence.

Jose Ruiz, 24, of Gustine was arrested on Dec. 22 for DUI, DUI of .08 or more and being an unlicensed driver.

Jonathan Martinez Hernandez, 29, of Modesto was arrested on Dec. 22 for violating a court order.

Jimmy De La Cruz, 35, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 23 for violating a court order.

Jose Leyva, 36, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 23 for violating a court order, possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation.

A 22-year-old Newman man was arrested on Dec. 23 for domestic violence.

Jose Baldovinos, 39, of Modesto was arrested on Dec. 24 for driving on a suspended license.

Santos Jeronimo Vasquez, 42, of Gustine was arrested on Dec. 25 for DUI and DUI or.08 or more.

Adrian Lujan, 31, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 27 for driving on a suspended license.

David Arias Jr., 22, of Turlock was arrested on Dec. 30 for reckless driving.

Michael Searl, 40, of Patterson was arrested on Dec. 30 for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

Alejandro Gonzalez, 41, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 30 for driving on a suspended license.

Martha Espinoza, 36, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 31 for driving on a suspended license.

Jose Barajas, 21, of Newman was arrested on Dec. 31 for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Scott Suhama, 59, of San Jose was arrested on Dec. 31 for driving on a suspended license.

Julio Cesar Gonzalez Benitez, 42, was arrested at 11:11 p.m. on Dec. 21 in the area of Pointe Lourose and West Avenue for possession of a controlled substance, DUI, DUI of .08 or more and DUI involving drugs and alcohol.

Marco Antonio Velasquez Hernandez, 31, was arrested at 9:02 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the area of Highway 33 and Sullivan Road for warrants.

Osvaldo Gonzalez, 50, was arrested at 10:42 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 800 block of Walnut Drive for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm.
