Five Orestimba High boys soccer players were recently named to All-Trans Valley League teams, an improvement from last season’s accomplishments where the program had four players recognized.
Midfielders Bryant Lopez and Adrian Figueroa were named first team all-league while forward Noel Madrigal alongside midfielders Hector Madrigal and Cristian Mendoza earned all-league second team honors.
After only scoring one goal the year prior, Lopez broke out the following year as he led the team in scoring with six goals total. Following him was Figueroa, Noel Madrigal and forward Moises Ramirez, who each contributed four goals.
One of the improvements Lopez made this season was his consistency, said head coach Jose Serrato. He added that the senior player was the team’s best attacker, despite being a defensive midfielder.
“He was good defensively, and also our best attacker being a defensive midfielder,” Serrato said of Lopez’s play. “He improved considerably from his junior year, so this was his best season.”
He added the accomplishment highlighted how good the team was despite having back-to-back losing seasons.
The Warriors ended its 2025-26 campaign at 8-11-4 overall and 3-7-2 in league play. Of the 11 losses, six were by a single goal. The team’s season ended with a 1-0 loss to Delhi High in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V playoffs.
“We were in most of the games we competed in, and we hope to continue competing and, of course, get better results next year,” Serrato said.
With six seniors graduating, the Warriors could bring back the majority of its roster for next season. Some of the returners could include Figueroa, Mendoza and Noel Madrigal. Serrato said he’s hopeful of having his players return next season, while including those making the transition from junior varsity to varsity.
“We know we lose players every year, but our [junior varsity] also plays an important role,” he said. “So just build from there. Keep working towards getting better every day.”
