Orestimba volleyball competes in Central California Classic

The Orestimba High volleyball team competed in the Central California Classic over the weekend, where the Warriors went 1-6.

Following the seven matches, Orestimba are now 5-12 overall at the conclusion of its non-league slate.

Warriors’ Persia Wright and Mirynn Oliveira combined for 31 kills through the tournament. Belén Gonzalez recorded 37 assists total through seven matches.

After falling to Buhach Colony and Pitman High in its first two matches, the Warriors bounced with its sole win against Golden Valley High in three sets, 2-1 (25-15, 16-25, 15-10).

Oliveira led with a team-high five kills in the match, while Samantha Castillas and Wright contributed three kills each. Gonzalez finished the match with 14 assists.

Following the win, Orestimba went on to lose its final four matches against Gregori, Modesto Christian, Los Banos and Livingston High.

The Warriors will open Trans-Valley League play when the team hosts Hughson High (11-5) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
