A fire at a rural home in Patterson on April 2 claimed two lives, the City of Patterson reported.

The blaze prompted a multi-agency response from around the region, including the Newman Fire Department.

The initial fire call came in at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday for a home in the 700 block of Almond Avenue, which is in an unincorporated area of Patterson.

The first fire engine to arrive at the scene was from the West Stanislaus County Fire Protection District and the crews found a two-story ranch home fully engulfed in flames.

Fire crews were told there were potentially two people inside the home.

The first firefighters initiated an exterior attack, while the second on-scene fire engine, from the City of Patterson Fire Department, performed a vent-enter-search via windows on the rear of the home.

Firefighters found one person in the search and was able to bring the individual out of the home. The victim was tended to by Patterson District Ambulance paramedics and pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second victim was found deceased inside the home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit and Sheriff’s Office.
