MERCED — Fairgoers will once again be able to ride to the Merced County Fair at no cost as “The Bus” brings back its annual Free Fare to the Fair shuttle service for this year’s event, running June 10–14.

Shuttles will depart every 30 minutes from two locations — the North Transit Hub on North M Street and the Merced Transpo in downtown Merced — beginning at 5 p.m. each night of the fair. The final shuttle will leave the fairgrounds at 12:30 a.m. Parking at both pickup sites is free, including the Bank of America lot across from the Transpo.

“The Bus is honored to support fun, community traditions like the Merced County Fair,” Transit Director Serenity Anderson said in a statement. “Over the years, the ‘Free Fare to the Fair’ shuttles have become an essential part of residents’ fair experience just like riding the Ferris wheel and trying the latest fair treats.”

Visitors can stop by The Bus’ table inside Yosemite Hall for route information, games and a chance to win one of two children’s bicycles.

For those traveling into Merced to catch the shuttle, fixed‑route service to the Transpo is available on the M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, UC, LB, P, T and W1 routes. The M7 route also stops at the rear gate of the fairgrounds. Route maps and schedules are available at mercedthebus.com.

Real‑time bus tracking is offered at thebuslive.com or through the free “The Bus Live” smartphone app.

The Bus is the public transportation provider for all of Merced County and is administered by the Transit Joint Powers Authority for Merced County and managed by the Merced County Association of Governments.
