Orestimba High volleyball loses third straight ahead of TVL play

Coming off a loss from Summerville High, Orestimba High volleyball continues to struggle as the team were swept in its two-game slate against Mariposa County and Dos Palos High Schools last week.

The Warriors have now lost three straight and fell to 3-5 overall before the start of Trans-Valley League play.

Last Tuesday as the host, Orestimba were swept by Dos Palos, 3-0 (19-25, 22-25, 20-25). With the loss, the Warriors have lost to the Broncos in back-to-back seasons.

Eight different players contributed a kill for Dos Palos and were led by sophomore Ashlyn Powers with 10 kills. Following her was senior Jayla Bland with eight kills.

Junior Mylenne Isordia and senior Hailey Portillo combined for five assists. Junior Kodi Gonzales recorded 15 digs. Portillo also had 11 digs.

24 hours prior, the Warriors fell to Mariposa in four sets (15-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-19). Orestimba have now lost three straight matches to the Grizzlies, dating back to September 2024.

Six different Mariposa players recorded a kill and were led by senior outside hitter Gillian Pioske with 15 kills. Pioske also had four assists. Junior libero Abby Beery contributed 15 digs and four assists.

Orestimba will start Trans-Valley League play when the team hosts Ripon Christian High on Tuesday. The first set will begin at 7 p.m.
